SCOTCH ON THE ROCKS??

Forget it! TASTE that wee Scotch THE SCOTTISH WAY!

This is nearly the end of the year and everyone is about to celebrate, cheer, click those glasses... But what is the content?
Do you wanna go for the good, old champagne or you'd rather have a wee (=small) sip of that fine Scotch?
Actually, the reason I bother you is to listen to some gorgeous Scottish accent! The taste of it is just as good as their whisky! ;)

Listen to every word or should I say DRINK his words... :))) Then the whisky.. Actually, it is nicer to listen to it with a glass of Scotch ;) And listen to that description! Oh my...

This is REAL SPOKEN ENGLISH for ya.. - I couldn't resist and transcripted the beginning.

(If I made some mistakes, I am truly sorry. If a native speaker reads it, please feel free to correct and comment.)

Well, here is some REAL SCOTTISH ACCENT for ya! He is absolutely amazing! Listen to that desription! What could come better now than some description of a good, old Scotch?!

"So how do you taste blended Scotch whisky?
First of all, you need to use a glass. Not just any glass, a capita nosing glass. You'll see it from the shape of this one. It is quite different from this one.
Because what you want to do is - unlike this shape - you want to get into the whisky to assess it.

So what you must do is take the bottle, pour it into the glass, swirl it around as I said to you before, throw it out, because you want to get rid of any odours or perhaps on the lip of the glass.

Swirl it up and say "Hello", then you go back to it; "How are you?" then you go back to it; "Quite well, thank you very much." and remember, get into it.

Don't go like this... no, no this stuff...you wanna get right into it to make sure that you are actually examining every part of that whisky...

How do you taste it?

Don't knock it back like a cowboy.

Take the water But don't just pick up a jug like this. What you need to do is to pick up a jug with your finger in the water. Why?

Because you want to test it.

Why do you want to test it?

Because many barman, unfortunately stick their jug under a hot tap by mistake and therefore this is what ruins whisky.
Six times of how they've ruined my whisky! Six times! Once in America once in France, once in Stockholm and twice in England.

So you take the still water, you put it into the whisky, reduce it down to 35% alcohol.

35% alcohol is the ideal strength to really bringing out the whisky in the palate.

So put in the mouth... hmm...hmmm...hmmm...hmm.hmm....hmmm...and then let it go down..."

CHEERS and HAPPY NEW YEAR

from SuzieB

P.S.: Mind you, I prefer Jameson, Irish whisky, myself. It is just so smooth like velvet...doesn't burn your throat, fixes your upset stomach... it's a treat by itself :)

P.P.S.: Next time, you'll get an Irish accent to figure out... :D
